...an excellent venue for a romantic night or two away with baths made for two, luxurious goodies to indulge yourself from Ren and beds that are some of the most comfortable we have ever tried...there are lots of added touches that make your stay special...
Live Manchester, September 2009

This time last week I woke up at your lovely hotel. I'd had a great night's sleep in your very roomy decadent bed, and then sampled a great breakfast in the restaurant. Everything about the stay was perfect - little things like lemon and lime slices, fresh milk in the jug and chocs on the pillows were very much appreciated. the staff were very friendly and helpful...everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home. trying to find an excuse to visit again soon!

The BEST Hotel in Manchester!!!
Inside Magazine, August 2009

Worries about being the only non-gay in the village soon dissipate. The staff are friendly, the decor is a cut above the average boutique hotel and the pricing is keen....I looked at all 19 rooms and they were all gorgeous

Thank you for making us so welcome at the weekend - everyone at the hotel - without exception - went out of their way to make us feel welcome and special. The rooms are simply amazing...it will be difficult to choose between the Victorian and Chinese rooms next tim! large shower vs large bath...

Big thank you to all of you at Velvet for helping to make the Laramie Epilogue launch so fantastic. Our guest from the States has now returned to the Big Apple and is spreading the word about how FABULOUS Velvet hotel is!
Dick Longdin, September 2009

Staff and service were as always perfect and a credit to the manner in which the hotel is being run

Each of the stunning 19 rooms and suites, situated atop the Velvet Bar / Restaurant are individually designed with an English eclecticism complete with nods to elegant modernism, city sophistication, and a bit of irreverence. If you need a reason to visit Manchester...a stay at the Velvet Hotelshould be top of your list! Plan your stay in advance because this hotspot is in great demand!

Opened last month, this converted warehouse on the eastern reaches of Canal St has just 19 artfully furnished room. Luxurious with a camp twist, there are four poster beds, a variety of artworks - pop, erotic - and yellow rubber ducks in the bath! Thick towels, smooth linen and comfy beds provide comfort...ideal for incomers from London! Breakfast is served in the glitzy restaurant in the basement.

Many thanks for a wonderful stay - the hotel is beautiful!

Guests soon notice the decadence factor. Simplicity is so passe...at least it is at Velvet! The lack of standard rooms for one, hand carved beds imported from France and a different chandelier for each Suite - Velvet defies the current economic boundaries in a flamboyant and disobedient style...expect the unexpected!

Thank you so much for a looking after us so well - we had a lovely stay and will be recommending this fine establishment to all our friends in Dublin

The Hotel is fantastic, Chris was very impressed - so much so he mentioned last night about booking for our friends wedding stay over in a few months...he said it was the best hotel he had stayed over in since he was last in the States...Hotel staff were really attentive, but so were the bar/restaurant staff, really exceptional service !
Judith Rafferty, March 2009

Once again you excelled in the courtesy and friendship shown to both Barbara and myself...The thoughtfulness of all the staff still amazes us and the attention to all the small detail gives Velvet it's special meaning to us and all your customers.
Terry & Barbara, March 2009

Louise staff member is a very professional and polite member of staff - good service, clean room. We feel welcomed to be here...thanks for the birthday wishes for Stuart!

Velvet is divine with a capital 'D'. The food is exceptional, the portions are bigger than life, the staff are brilliant, plus it's very mixed with straights and gays all tucking in together. The Spicy Chicken is best. They present you with about half a chicken (cut into goujons) and it costs about eight quid. I don't know how they do it, plus their accompanying fries and salad are equally delicious. Two words of advice: 1) get over the fish tank on the stairs because it's safe, and 2) dine at Velvet - then die in peace!

Very nice bar, went there late afternoon and watched it get busier as the city types finished work. Service was always good and with a smile. Strongly suggest you visit it. Too generous with the food though, made one feel guilty not finishing it all. Decor very nice Gothic with a strange degree of African erotica, put one to shame. Perfect bar with the perfect company, and if you're lucky enjoy the fireworks!
